Match report Oh dear. Conceding 358 runs is rather a lot. Possibly a record at Walferdange. It is the second most runs I've ever been involved with behind the nightmare of 377 from 35 overs scored by Greece against Luxembourg in Vienna, 2004. In fareness to our team the MCCB team were very strong. Abdul Ala, who hit 186 hit some big sixes that were very timed strokes and it is not often in second XI cricket that you face fast in-swing and genuine, well-aimed bouncers. But boy, does it hurt to see a catch dropped and then see the next two balls you bowl go for six and four. 'Catches win matches' is the old adage and it might have been true for OCC. We contrived to drop Abdul Ala no less than nine times and there were twelve drops in all (only counting those that went to hand). Our bowlers didn't bowl as badly as the figures might suggest, and we didn't bat so badly either. MCCB were a much stronger side, but OCC's desperately poor fielding made sure the result could only go one way, what ever the relative strengths of the sides.
