Optimists Cricket Club Won

Match report Final: WOCC Vs Heritage

WOCC won the toss and chose to bowl.

Following the success of the previous match Ed decided to open the bowling with the Mumend brothers however the results were not the same as Hashmat’s first ball was hit out of the park by Amit Halbhavi followed by boundary and in the same over Alston hit a six to end the 1st over for 22 runs. As Milad came for the 2nd over Amit did not spare him either hitting him for a six and a boundary and taking the total score to 37 at the end of the 2nd Over. Ed decided to take matters in his own hands however he faced the same fate as the Mumend brothers and his over went for 18 runs making total power play score of 55/0. Then Sareer was brought into attack hoping to do the damage control and he was smashed for a six in his 1st ball, however he came back strong to give 1 run and take the wicket of Amit (30 of 12) in the next 5 balls. The next over from Hashmat was a big one too where Alston continued to hit sixes for fun and Vivek joined the party. Heritage were already 80/1 of 5 overs when Sareer came back in to the attack where he stepped up to the occasion and skittled the danger man Alston (33 of 15) through an unplayable delivery sending both the openers back into the pavilion. Sareer finished his spell with a remarkable 2/15 at an economy of 7.5 when other bowlers were giving away more than 14 an over and also taking the priced wickets of Amit and Alston which would have otherwise easily cost another 20 runs for WOCC. Following the spell of Sareer WOCC were coming back into game the with Vivek (25 of 14), Vikram (10 of 7) and Anoop (8 of 6) kept the scoreboard ticking but not at the same pace. But the party wasn’t over yet as Girish (17 of 4) and Oscar (8 of 3) ensured for a perfect finish to set a target of 144.

The target was tall but the self belief was high. WOCC started the innings cautiously with only 1 boundary of the 1st over however some extras and singles allowed them to get 12 of that over.
Ed hit the first six of the innings followed by will hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours to make the score 40 of 2 overs. Raju came back for the third over but Will and Ed had Malaga on their sight where they snatched 22 runs out of the 3rd over making the team score 62 of 3. Vivek came into attack and William just hit him for a couple of flat sixes over extra cover and square leg showing his class and aggression. Vikram took the ball in his hands hoping to control things where he managed get Ed (19 of 8) out however Will did not stop and at the end of 5th over he took the score to 97/1. Aman khan followed the suit by hitting Dhingra for a six and a boundary. There was no force that could stop the blade of William Cope who kept on taking on each bowler who came his way to finish the innings 103 of 30 balls with 9 fours and 10 gigantic sixes. Of course WOCC won the match by chasing the target in 8 overs putting their hands over the PM Cup after a long wait and ready to go to Malaga.
