The Optimists were delighted to welcome Walferdange Mayor, Francois Sauber along with Jessie Thill, Michel Feidt, Romain Breuer and Helga Krecke-Mardetschlager along with many Optimists members and supporters to officially the new pavilion. On the ground the Captains vs Chairmans was being played and between innings, Mr. Sauber cut the ribbon and declared the pavilion open!

On Saturday evening, Optimists Cricket Club hosted their annual awards dinner at the Hotel Parc-Belair. The guest speaker was England cricket legend, Monty Panesar. Following a short welcome speech from Optimists CC Vice-Chairman, Tim Andrews, guests enjoyed the delicious three course meal before the awards were presented. This year saw once again the successful organization of the 6-a-side Tournament on July 4/5. It is now an ’international’ tournament since 9 teams participated, including a team from Strasbourg. Plate winners were Jurgen's Squarepants,Cup winners were Star ‘Young Blood’, who contested the final with Star ‘Veterans’ in an all STAR affair. Bryan Rouse was awarded an ICC centenary medal for his tremendous work over many years in Luxembourg for empires' organisation.
