Optimists Cricket Club News story

Optimists 2016 season BCF fixtures becoming clearer

03 Feb 2016

We have now received confirmation from the Belgian Cricket Federation (BCF) about our participation in the 2016 season and this means there is plenty of competitive cricket to look forward to. Optimists 1st XI will compete in the Division 2 league playing both home and away against Royal Brussels CC 1sts; Hasselt CC; Arcadians CC; Brugge CC 1sts and Afghan CCB. This will mean 10 matches in the 45 over format. Additionally, Optimists 1st XI have re-entered the BCF T20 tournament and have been placed in Group 2 and will play Crescent CC; ICCB; Hasselt CC and Afghan CCB before hopefully going on to further matches in this competition. Whilst the exact fixture dates are yet to be finalised, it means that we will play at least 14 1st team matches this summer which is a considerable increase on 2015. For the club to be successful, it requires a large and strong squad of players able to play at this competitive standard but as the quality and quantity of players continues to grow, we can look forward to this challenge with enthusiasm in our 40th anniversary year.

In addition to BCF fixtures, a series of visiting teams will be coming to Luxembourg and soon the LCF league process will also be finalised to create a full summer of cricket for all. More detail will be published when known.
