Firstly, on Saturday, Walferdange Optimists CC (WOCC) begin their LCF League campaign with a game vs Star CC (current LCF Indoor Champions). The team will be captained by Ananth Srisailapathy and will look to get off to a good start in (partial) defence of their title from 2015. In fact, the final in 2015 vs AIL CC ended in a wash-out with honours shared. This year’s tournament involves 6 teams in a round robin process followed by play-offs later in the summer.
On Sunday, Optimists 1st XI also begin their league campaign in defence of the Belgian League Division 2 title. This season will be tough with 10 games against strong sides starting with a home match vs Hasselt CC. The first team is captained by William Heath and will welcome debutant Atif Kamallwho has recently relocated to Luxembourg and with 16 year old Luka Galliver getting his first taste of 1st XI action after being named as 12th man. The weather forecast for both games is promising so we look forward to welcoming home supporters down at the ground this weekend.
