Dear All,
It is with a very heavy heart that Optimists Cricket Club announce that we were informed, and are incredibly
saddened to hear, of the passing of David Crowther earlier today. David was involved in Luxembourgish
cricket for over 35 years. During that time, he was a highly valued colleague both as a player and an
administrator but he will be most fondly remembered as a highly respected and talented umpire. Both
locally in Luxembourg and in the BCF in Belgium, David stood in countless games and perhaps his
greatest trait was actually that you would never remember a game as result of him but you knew that his
involvement had facilitated a great game of cricket and that memory of it.
David is survived by his wife Marilise, his former wife Elisabeth and his children Philip and Annette and we
would like to extend our deepest condolences to them and thank them for allowing David to spend so
much of time in and around cricket.
Once received, we will relay any funeral arrangements to members.
Thank you, David, and may you rest in peace
Optimists Cricket Club
