Sunday 9 May, Antwerp Away

Optimists 1sts kicked off the 2010 season with an away win at Antwerp yesterday.

Aiming to bounce straight back to Division 1, OCC were put asked to field first. Antwerp were aggressive and achieved early boundaries but failed to build partnerships and were bowled out for 143.

The Optimists also lossed wickets in building the chase, but a level-headed partnership between Monico and Whiteman, pushing for intelligent singles and punishing any loose bowling took the Luxembourgers within reach of the target. Despite a couple of late wickets, and supported by the application of Law 27.7, Optimists crossed the finish line with 4 wickets in hand.

OCC will be looking to hold the momentum of this early victory till June, when its BCF fixtures return on a weekly basis.
