Last Sunday the Under 15 team travelled to Tervuren to meet the British School of Brussels (BSB) on their all-weather pitch. Holiday absences allowed us the opportunity to give débuts to Matthijs Geurtz, Luka Dacic and Rishabh Patil.
BSB chose to bat first and suffered an important setback in the first over when their skipper was athletically caught and bowled by Charlie Ramsden. Two more wickets fell quickly but a steady stand followed, moving the score to 44. At this stage the match virtually ended as a contest when James Barker bowled the other opener, had his replacement neatly caught by Sebastiaan van Gilst off the next ball, and completed his hat trick off the next. Wickets continued to tumble in quick succession, three of these to Puneet Vyas, and only a last wicket stand of 15 brought the total to 73 all out.
Facing a seemingly modest target we moved some of our less experienced batsmen higher up the order. This was not entirely successful as several run-outs resulting from good ground fielding by BSB kept them briefly in the match. However, two boundaries each from Zach Foley and Puneet Vyas, followed by watchful batting from Rishabh Patil, with 22 not out, ensured that we reached our target comfortably, in the twelfth over for the loss of 6 wickets.
