Greater detail will be provided soon but over the last weekend, the Luxembourg national U15s team competed at the International Twenty20 tournament in Copenhagen. This was the first time that Luxembourg had entered a national team in this tournament and the boys performed very well against much more established countries. Write-ups for each match will follow but the highlights are as follows:-
- Luxembourg won 2 out of 5 matches and finished 4th out of 6 teams;
- Luxembourg beat Denmark 2 and Belgium;
- Luxembourg lost very narrowly to Switzerland and Denmark 1 and also put in great fight against Holland when rain interrupted a possible upset (match lost on run rate);
- Timothy Barker scored over 220 runs in 5 matches at an average of over 70 – he was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ by the independent umpires;
- James Barker and Marcus Cope also received ‘Man of the Match’ awards;
- The final game saw Luxembourg chase down Belgium’s target of 138 for 7 on the very last ball to record a famous win.
