Optimists Cricket Club

Basel Cricket Club were the visitors last week-end and the Optimists had mixed results against them.

On the Saturday, a 40 over game was played where Basel batted first and were bowled out for 160 thanks to great bowling from Aanand Pandey, Arjun Nandal and Puneet Vyas.

Phil Burleigh and Seb Finch then put on nearly a 100 opening partnership. Burleigh scoring 57 with a few big 6s and Finch run out for 30. Tim Barker and Piran Merkl saw the Optimists home to an easy win, both scoring around 20.

SUnday was different affair though. A T20 games was agreed and the Optimists were promptly bowled out for 106.
The Basel openers batted well with one of them, Zaheer making a classy 71 to see his side to victory with only two wickets down.

It was a great week-end of cricket and we look forward to extracting some revenge when we go down there in mid September.
