Senior Juniors win 6's

07 Jul 2014

Congratulations to the Senior Juniors team who won the annual 6-aside tournament convincingly on sunday.

The winning team captained by Charlie Ramsden also included Timothy and James Barker, Aanand Pandey, Chris Evans and Dhritiman Kamat. They won every match they played in the tournament and produced consistently high quality cricket throughout the weekend.

CCC (Wayne Codd, Will Stock, Steve Evans, Ananth Srisailapathy, Chris Breely, Joost Mees) were worthy runners up, boosted by Wayne Codd's consistent batting and by Joost Mees's guest appearance.

The weekend was a remarkable success considering that the majority of the group matches were played in steady rain on saturday and the final and presentation were just concluded on sunday when a violent storm struck.

Many thanks to all the teams (G6, Star, Desi Boys, Metz, Maidens, Gianchandanis, Tri-Nations, Chennai Super Kings and Going Down Leg in addition to the finalists mentioned above) particularly for sticking it out on a wet saturday.

Congratulations to Paola Correia for taking the first 6-aside hat-trick (ever, as far as anyone can remember!).

Thanks to our loyal umpiring team of David Crowther, Mick Swithinbank, Mark Smith, Madhu Ramachandran and Richard Eames, who stood in the rain while others ran around!

Thanks to all the various organisers and helpers: Tim Andrews, Sandra, Penny Atkinson, Freda Deed, Richard Andrews and family, Richard Neale, Simon Baker, Jem Pearce, Deepak Gianchandani, Mona Gianchandani, Nigel Ramsden and family, Joost Mees and family, Tony Whiteman and family, Graham Cope, William Heath and others more numerous to name. If I have left anyone out, please forgive me and consider yourself thanked as well!

There was a great sense of community throughout the weekend which made it a real pleasure to be involved.

Detailed results to follow.
