First away win for 1st XI

02 Sep 2013

The last away match for the 1st XI was at RBCC in Ohain against their 2nd XI and we played two debutants, Anurag Tiwary and Murali Ravichandran. Winning the toss, Joost decided to field first in a shortened 40 over match. A great bowling effort by opening bowlers Phil and Arjun kept the scoring tight and succesful bowling changes saw Murali, James and Arvind pick up a wicket in their first over. Charlie, fighting a fever, bowled an impressive, though wicketless spell in the middle overs and only a batting cameo of their nr 10 made them reach 210 all out after 36 overs.
Timothy and William started in T20 fashion putting 48 on the board after 6 overs but fell quickly after each other in identical fashion ; Timothy for a well paced 41 of 37 balls. James and Joost could build on the foundation and put on an unbeaten 154 for the third wicket, bringing the side home with unbeaten half centuries (James 64*, Joost 78*) and 5 overs to go. A great away win and the first in a long time!
