Ground Clear up Weekend – let’s get down and help out

04 Apr 2017

Dear All,

The 2017 outdoor season is nearly here and that can only mean that cricket is imminent.

A full set of fixtures are prepared but our beautiful Pierre Werner Oval in Walferdange is not. Hence it is time for our usual ‘all hands on deck’ approach to preparing the ground for the summer ahead.

All volunteers will be warmly welcomed at the ground from 10 am on Saturday April 8th and Sunday 9th as there is a lot do to. Please come appropriate dressed and with equipment from home ready to take on these tasks:

Rolling outfield (Saturday – focus on Wendy side of ground; Sunday – focus on River side of ground after re-seeding completed).

Raking out of any remaining molehills followed by re-seeding of each patch using purchased seed, old top soil plus newly purchased top soil. This must be completed on Saturday!

Fixing hooks to wooden posts on river side to hang boundary rope on. Positioning of rope onto hooks on Sunday after rolling completed.

Repainting of all crease marks on 2 pitch tracks and all 4 net tracks.

            Numbers fixed back onto scoreboard.

            Repositioning of the Sightscreens.

            Cleaning of Toilet Facilities.

Rebuilding and testing of gang mowers.

Full grass cut of square and inner circle up to where molehills exist.

Full Wendy sort out including purchase of catering equipment.

Return of all ‘winter stored’ club kit and equipment from ISL.

            General tidy up.

Restocking of the drinks fridge! (TICK!)

For the above tasks we need as many people as possible to bring tools (especially wheelbarrows, spades, rakes, electric screwdrivers with fully charged battery packs, etc.).

If you helped out the club by storing team kit over the winter could you please remember to bring it back on Saturday.

A BBQ will be organised (at around 4pm) for the workforce so remember, many hands make light work.

We look forward to seeing you all down at the ground this weekend.
