On a glorious Sunday afternoon with the sun shining over the PWCG, TCS Stars won the toss against WOCC for the 25 overs friendly contest and elected to bat first.
Anshuman B and Salil J played well within the power play to make a decent 45 run stand. Jalal broke the partnership thanks to a brilliant pick up and throw from the offside with one stump to aim at and caused the first wicket to fall - a runout.
WOOC bowled well and kept the pressure on TCS Stars to take 4 more wickets in the middle overs. Taha L bowled over Anshuman for a weil played 45. WOCC kept the pressure on until the 22nd over while Philly B got 3 wickets with also doing a clean bowled of Dilshad (one for the record books).
Anoop played a little gem in the last three overs and scored fluently. Striking at 275 percent and making 33 not out of 12 balls. He was also supported well by Muzzakkir to take TCS stars to a respectable total of 177 at the end of 25 overs.
WOCC struggled a bit in the power play losing some early wickets. Until Mohit D and Pankaj M played well for the 5th wicket to have added 63 runs. Finally Pankaj’s 37 ball 36 came to an end after being caught by Dilshad in the 16th over while the score at 96 for 5.
Mohit kept picking the odd boundary and trying to secure one end. Finally Mohit got out in the last over for 75 to his name. A truly fighting innings from the skipper but kept running out of partners.
Finally WOCC fell 2 runs short of the target giving TCS stars a well deserved win.
All in all a fantastic friendly game of cricket on a fabulous day at Walferdange.
