Dramatic Tie between Optimists & British Chamber of Commerce

09 Jul 2023

On Sunday, Optimists Cricket Club hosted the British Chamber of Commerce Cricket Day. It was a fun-filled and family orientated event that was well attended by over 150 people.
Throughout the afternoon, Think Pink were raising funds by selling delicious cakes, cookies, Crement and Rose wine along with Think Pink branded merchandise.
Assisting them were two young ladies who were painting everyones nails and raised €200 for Think Pink charity. The cricket match of the Optimists vs British Chamber of Commerce was played in a friendly and enjoyable spirit.
The British Chamber of Commerce batted first and the highlight was Pankaj who scored 41 before retiring. Due to a rain delay, the match was shortened to 15 overs per side and BCC scored 104. Optimists started well with Akhilesh Kumar hitting boundaries for fun but when he retired on 39, the runs dried up. It was down to Phill Burleigh and the last ball of the innings to hit a six to tie the match – Phil did exactly that and the match was tied! It was a great result and match.
The BBQ and Bar kept going for several hours after play in what turned out to be a sunny and very enjoyable evening.
