OCC beat Barnet CC

OCC welcomed Barnet CC to Luxembourg for a weekend of cricket, with the first game played over 35 overs at Walferdange. Barnet NW CC won the toss and elected to bat first on a good cricketing surface.

Barnet made a positive start, but OCC struck in the very first over, with Abhinav taking the opening wicket and giving OCC an early breakthrough. Despite the early setback, R. Amin played a fantastic innings, anchoring the Barnet batting effort and scoring 87 runs. He was the mainstay of the innings and helped Barnet build a competitive total.

OCC continued to take wickets at regular intervals. Kumaresan bowled an excellent spell, claiming three wickets, while Abhinav , Srijan and Anant the rest of the OCC bowling attack kept the pressure on the Barnet batsmen. Barnet eventually finished their 35 overs on 207 runs, setting OCC a target of 208.

OCC’s Chase

OCC’s reply got off to a difficult start. Barnet managed to take a wicket in the first over, and OCC were soon under serious pressure at 28 for 3 inside the Powerplay.

However, what followed was an outstanding recovery.

Adi and Malith produced a superb 128 runs partnership, completely changing the momentum of the game. The pair attacked the Barnet bowling with confidence, rotated the strike well and punished loose deliveries. Their partnership gave OCC the stability they desperately needed and put the chase firmly back in their control.

Adi was exceptional, playing a fantastic innings of 79 runs from 69 balls. He showed excellent shot selection and composure under pressure. Alongside him, Malith contributed an impressive 60 from 47 balls, providing the perfect support and keeping the required run rate under control.

The middle-order contribution from Rakshit, who scored 31 from 16 balls, also helped OCC accelerate towards the finish.

With the pressure lifted and wickets in hand, OCC completed the chase comfortably, finishing on 208 for 6 in 30 overs and securing a convincing victory.
