OCC 1st XI beat Heritage to earn place in final
07 Aug 2026
OCC 1st XI (199/6) defeated Heritage 1 (145/10) by 54 runs
OCC Storm Into the LCF Division I Grand Final
LUXEMBOURG — OCC 1st XI booked their place in the LCF Outdoor League 2026 Division I Grand Final with a magnificent 54-run victory over Heritage 1 in a high-stakes Qualifier 2 encounter.
It was a complete team performance under playoff pressure — a commanding batting display led by a brilliant half-century from Anoop Orsu, followed by an outstanding bowling performance in which OCC’s pace battery and Mohit Dixit dismantled the Heritage batting line-up.
Innings 1: A Fast Start Sets the Tone
A jet-lagged OCC captain walked out on a sunny afternoon, only to lose the toss to Heritage 1, who elected to field. With a fast outfield on offer, the conditions looked ideal for scoring runs.
OCC started cautiously, but the intent was clear almost immediately. Aman Khan smashed a boundary off his very first ball, while Asghar Ali launched the first ball of the second over for six. The early signs were obvious — OCC were looking to put up a big total.
The skipper’s instruction was simple: put 200-plus on the board.
However, Heritage struck back in the third over with the early departure of Asghar. Aman then took responsibility, batting sensibly through the remainder of the powerplay and building the innings around the wickets in hand.
The partnership-building phase was crucial. Tony Whiteman then provided the acceleration OCC needed, smashing a rapid 38 off just 21 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. His partnership with Anoop put OCC firmly back in control.
Anoop reached a sparkling half-century in the 13th over and continued to attack through the middle overs, eventually finishing with a match-defining 62 off 41 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Late acceleration from the OCC middle order ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking. OCC eventually finished their 20 overs on 199/6.
It was slightly short of the captain’s desired 200-plus target, but the dressing room remained confident. With the pace battery of Hashmat, Eliyas and Milad ready to take the field, OCC believed 199 was more than enough to defend.
Amit Dhingra led the Heritage bowling effort with 3/35, but OCC had already built the platform they needed.
Innings 2: Pace Battery Strikes Early
Heritage needed 200 to stay alive in the competition, but OCC’s bowlers had other plans.
Hashmat M delivered the perfect first blow — with the second ball of the innings. He trapped Girish, Heritage’s centurion from the previous match, LBW and immediately put OCC on the front foot.
There was no looking back from there.
OCC’s powerplay was exceptional. Mohammad Eliyas Jabar Khel continued the pressure, removing Amit Halbhavi and bowled Vivek D and finishing with impressive figures of 2/22.
The disciplined opening spell from the OCC pace attack meant Heritage never got the freedom they needed in the chase. Even when Vivek D briefly threatened with a flurry of boundaries, OCC remained firmly in control.
Then came the decisive spell from Mohit Dixit.
Mohit continued the momentum through the middle overs, picking up crucial wickets and steadily dismantling the Heritage batting order. In the 10th over, he produced a match-changing sequence, taking two wickets in two balls to remove dangerous hitter Asgar Ali for 34 and Jigyasu Pant for 0.
The double-wicket maiden effectively crushed any remaining momentum Heritage had.
By the 15th over, the writing was on the wall. The majority of the Heritage batting line-up was already back in the pavilion, and OCC were firmly in control.
Mohit finished as the pick of the OCC bowlers with 3 crucial wickets, but it was opening spell of Hashmat and eliyas along with Milad’s tidy overs, showcasing entire bowling unit maintaining relentless pressure throughout the innings.
Heritage 1 were eventually bowled out for 145, giving OCC a comprehensive 54-run victory.
A Champion Performance
This was more than just another league victory. OCC delivered exactly what was required in a knockout game — aggressive intent with the bat, disciplined bowling with the ball, and composure under pressure.
From Asghar’s six off the first ball of the second over, to Anoop’s composed half-century, Tony’s six over point, Hashmat’s second-ball breakthrough, Eliyas breaking the stump and Mohit’s devastating middle-over spell, OCC controlled the game across all phases.
The 199/6 scoreboard proved enough, but it was the collective belief in the OCC camp that made the difference.
With a 54-run Qualifier 2 victory, OCC 1st XI now march into the LCF Division I Grand Final.
One game away. One step from glory.
