Ground preparation day a success

14 Apr 2012

Important last minute tasks were carried out by a good crowd of around 20 Optimists, Juniors and their fathers, only the day before the opening match of the season, Captain's XI vs. Chairman's XI.

Many thanks to all those who came down the ground to lend a hand. The photo shows club captain Joost Mees along with Arvind Pandey and Tim Andrews carefully refreshing the crease lines. The majority of the work was carried out in the nets, re-attaching old netting and installing some new netting. The the mats were cleansed of their mossy layer with a power hose and treated, while other enthusiastic DIY fanatics improved the backstop chicken wire behind the bowlers, thus reducing the chances of cricketers having to dodge black angus herds in the field behind the bowlers run-up searching for well-hit straight drives.
