6-aside: latest team news

02 Jul 2014

This coming weekend the OCC continues its long tradition of a mid-summer 6-aside competition and this is the high point in our social cricket programme.

The competition will feature 11 teams:

ABN-AMRO (led by Sameep Jangir: all new cricketers to the Luxembourg scene)
Communities Cricket Club (led by Will Stock and boosted by some waifs and strays from Blackstuff CC)
Chennai Super Kings (led by Murali Ravichandran - you can guess where their loyalties lie!)
G6 (led by Niraj and the clue is that G stands for Gujarat)
Gianchandanis (led by Gautam and entirely from the Gianchandani family - we will check birth certificates!)
Going Down Leg (led by Ben Embleton and largely imported from the UK)
Maidens (led by Kerry: what 6-aside would be complete without our very own Maidens)
Metz (led by Asif and last year's winners)
Senior Juniors (led by Timothy Barker and a showcase for the Club's youth policy)
Star (led by Salai Sekaran and mainly new players from Star)
Tri-Nations (led by Tony Whiteman and drawn from southern hemisphere rugby playing nations)

Two pitches will be in use, ensuring the maximum of cricket for all teams. Play will commence at 10.00 AM on both days.

The match format will be 5 x 8 ball overs per team.

As usual there will be plenty of food and drink from the bar and BBQ. There will also be vegetarian food available.

There will also be things to occupy children. So please come along and enjoy the atmosphere, the social scene and, of course, the cricket.
